There are two levels of shipping cost management, estimated costs and actual costs. Both are based on the Weight of the items listed in their document line items (this is posted at the time they are added to the document) and the selected carrier tables from the Carrier file.
The estimates are the simplest to manage. It is how shipping costs are always estimated in orders and proposals. It can also be used in invoices.
Actual costing is managed only in the invoice.
The Default record under the File menu is used to set the default for all new Proposals, Orders and Invoices as to where freight is to be estimated.
This default may be over-ridden in any document by checking/unchecking the Wt check box.
