This Tech Note describes the process of adding new Items to your inventory.
At Splash Screen level
1. Production Dept > Items Menu > Add Item
Within a Proposal, Order, Invoice or PO
Click the "Add Item" button or "+" key.
Enter the "Item Number" of the new Item and click "Tab" when complete. If the "Item Number" does not exist a dialog box will open asking if you want to create a new "Item" record.
"Option" - "OK" to create this "Item Number" as a "Temporary Item Number".
Click "OK" to create a new "Item" record.
Select "Cancel" to exit the window.
Item Number, up to 35 characters
Description, up to 80 characters
Tally by Type - We recommend that this be checked. It will accumulate Sales performance of Items by the "Type".
Type - (Next to Tally by Type) Click on the word "Type" to access a Popup menu.
"Type Popup" is listed in the Popup file.
Use this Popup menu also in the GLAccounts to define the distribution of accounts for product Types. (Admin Dept > Records > Accounts and then the 2nd Pageunder the Navigation Pallet).
Choosing "Type popup" will set the" Sales/Inventory" and "Cost of Sales" fields if they have been defined. If they have not, the Default Accounts will be used.
Manufacturer Use the Popup menu.
Profiles Use the Popup menu to select profiles.
Standard Price Points A through D ( enter as appropriate ).
Wtd Avg Cost Enter cost of current "Inventory" for this Item.
Last Cost Enter the last "Purchase" cost for this Item.
Qty Default on Sale Typically 1.
Qty On Hand Enter the "Quantity" currently in inventory.
Unit of Measure Note if this is sold in thousands or millions see "Quantity Options".
Location Enter the "Location" of the Item. If Items are to be tracked based on manually entered.
Costs of sales 1 should be entered (If creating a serialized item, this must be entered last.)
Serialized click on box if "Serialized Item".
