Setup and operation of webClerk does not require End-Users to manage the technical details. Most of these details are built into the web pages provided in the " jitWeb" folder. However, some Users might want to change some options. These details provide a background for making those changes.

There may be multiple sets of standard web pages. Each set will be stored in a folder call "jitWeb". In each set of pages there will be a consistently sized logo which can be replaced on a universal basis by placing the desired logo in the "Image" folder with the name "Logo_Main.gif". In earlier versions of WebClerk, this logo was referred to as "Logo_Main."
The logo on the standard pages is set by:
The image stored in jitWeb/images/Logo_Main.gif
Create an End-User logo 159 wide by 56 pixels tall, name it "LogoMain.gif" and place it the "jitWeb / images" folder.
The image is referenced on pages by:
<IMG SRC="images/Logo_Main" WIDTH=159 HEIGHT=56 X-SAS-UseImageWidth X-SAS-UseImageHeight ALIGN=bottom>
The mail to and domain are also automatically placed on the web pages when the name and address are entered in the File menu >> Show Defaults then Dept menu > Admin > WebClerk >> web_Pref.
These are referred to on the pages as:
<A HREF="mailto:!jit=0;tcEmailAddr!">Contact us for support</A>
Preferences are set in Admin > webClerk > web_Prefs
Enter the domain, mail server and default mail address.
If secure credit cards are to be accepted, enter the URL to the secure form server. In this case Anacom is being used to take and process the credit card information. For a service like Anacom you need to also enter your userName at Anacom and the page to return to when the payment processing is complete.
Set the default pricing level for customers registering via the web. This is generally your highest price point.
Select the page cache option:
0 will load the page from the jitWeb folder every time the page is called. This is the slowest method of managing pages, however it is very useful when developing the pages on your site.
1 will make an effort to test if the page has changed since it was cashed. If a change is detected the page will automatically update. This takes time and depending of operating system events is more or less effective.
2 will cashe the page into RAM the first time the page is encountered. It will not update the page until WebClerk's serving capability is turned off and back on. This is the fastest way to manage pages. It is great for running an established site but will not show changes if pages are being edited.
During the setup and editing phase the value should be set to "0". When a site is established and being edited, it is best to use "2".
Credit Card Security -- Secure
If you wish to process secure credit card transactions, make arrangements with Anacom (www.anacom.com) to provide secure services. This will deposite funds directly into your bank under your Mechant ID. There is a setup fee (approximately $350), monthly fee (approximately $34) and a transaction fee (approximately 25 cents).
Credit Card Security -- UnSecure
If you are to take credit cards in the clear, webClerk has this one level of indirection in naming credit card fields. Enter a random name for referring to the card number, date and name on the card.
Customer Changes Allowed
Check if Customers are to be allowed to change their information. We recommend against this. Let people email changes. If customers are allowed to make changes, they are required to know their password and user name.
Set the option for the on screen log of hits. Hit display is managed by the variable <>ivDoHttpLog:
if Log Option < or = 0 post initial log on only
if Log Option > 0 & <>viDoHttpLog < 11 post the event id at each action
if Log Option > 10 post the event id and ip address at action
if Log Option = 222 write a log the the disk of all actions.
Set if you wish Customers to see their Open Order status:
if Order Status < or = 0 no Order status allowed
if Order Status = 2 Order status only return Ord Line status
if Order Status = any other value open Orders and Line Item details available
Set to 4 to 40, to use webClerk there must be a minimum of 8 megs of program RAM and 1 meg of additional RAM allocated for each additional process.
Port number is always set at 80 except for very special technical testing.
